watercolour + ink pet portraits
🐾 CUSTOM PET PORTRAIT INFO 🐾 All of my pieces are hand drawn & hand painted with traditional, tangible materials. No digital apart from scanning, and absolutely no AI. The creation of art is a uniquely personal & transformative process; I have zero interest in or respect for lazy, derivative generative imagery. 🎨 COMMISSIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED 🎨 PLEASE NOTE: Due to time & travel constraints I'm not able to commit to any projects with deadlines for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately I don't have an ETA, but you're welcome to email your request any time. You'll be automatically added to my wait list & I'll contact folks when my commission queue reopens. I accept pet portrait commissions on a case-by-case basis (not first come, first served) as my schedule allows. If you're interested in in a custom portrait, please send me an email that includes: ⭐️ At least 1 photo of your pet ⭐️ Your pet's name ⭐️ Your preferred size (see below for sizes & prices) ⭐️ Accessories and/or character requests (if applicable) ⭐️ Your deadline (if applicable) Custom Original Traditional Media Pet Portraits I love painting animals, and I'm fascinated by the colours & textures of feathers & fur, and the fun little quirks that make each pet unique. Photorealistic in quality and expressive in style, my portraits capture the distinctive personalities of the amazing animals I have the pleasure of meeting in person & online. Choosing the right photo reference is important, and I'm happy to help with the process. The quality of your photo will determine the level of detail I'm able to achieve, so the better the lighting & focus, the more accurate your portrait will be. Portraits normally take 6-8 weeks for completion from the date we decide on reference photos & I receive payment. At least one of the photos needs to be of your pet in the position you'd like them painted in. That photo will be the basis of my composition, but I like to work from a variety of images & a description of your pet's personality so that I can get to know them from as many angles as possible. Please keep in mind that any significant changes to size, subject, positioning & accessories must be requested before you confirm the composition of your portrait. Watercolour is not erasable, so I'm only able to make minor adjustments after I start painting. THE PROCESS: 1. Let me know you'd like a portrait 2. Send me pictures, confirm the size, primary composition photo & any accessory requests 3. Purchase your portrait 4. I draw out the composition in pencil (image confirmation emailed upon request) 5. I paint the rest of the portrait (image confirmation emailed) 6. You confirm your portrait & let me know if you'd like any minor adjustments 7. I email you the final scan & send the original watercolour your way! You will receive: ⭐️ The original watercolour + custom cut mat ⭐️ Hi res scan so you can make your own prints (for personal & gift purposes, not for resale) ⭐️ Web file with my watermark (I ask that any images shared online include my watermark) ⭐️ The rights to your pet's image. I reserve the right to include any portraits I paint in my portfolio, but I will not reprint your portrait for resale without your consent. Please let me know in advance if you need your portrait by a particular date, and I'll do my best to work within your time frame. I can often finish your portrait sooner than the standard estimate; but please understand my studio time varies depending on my current commission queue, exhibit schedule & convention/travel commitments. Portraits include custom cut mats that fit standard frame sizes, and are shipped flat & unframed via USPS Priority Mail with insurance. I'm happy to schedule an in-person portrait drop off either in the Seattle area or at one of my upcoming events if schedules allow. All materials are traditional, archival & acid-free. |
